Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Polingo ("we", "us") handles information when you use polingo.org to play Scattergories online. Polingo is a free, browser-based game. We have deliberately kept data collection to a minimum.
Information we collect
- No account, no personal details. You don't sign up or give us your email, and we don't ask for personal information.
- The display name you type is used only to show you to other players inside your game room. It is stored with the temporary game and is removed when the room is cleaned up.
- Usage and device data — like pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), browser and device type — is collected automatically by the analytics services below to help us understand how the game is used.
Cookies and analytics
We use the following third-party services, which set cookies or similar technologies:
- Google Analytics — measures traffic and how features are used. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymous usage analytics and heatmaps to improve the experience. Text you type is masked by default. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Local storage — we store a small amount of data in your browser (your current room and a session id) so a brief disconnect or refresh doesn't kick you out of your game. It stays on your device.
Advertising
We use Mediavine to show ads, which helps keep Polingo free. Mediavine and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (some features may work less smoothly).

Children's privacy
Polingo is a general-audience word game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
